Each year, several family groups choose to hold their family get togethers or reunions at River Valley Lodge. Invariably, we get great feedback about their River Valley experience.

So why did they choose River Valley? After all, the Lodge is not in a tourist area or close to a bigger city with an airport. Even with these things against it, River Valley Lodge can still be ideal for that get-together.

Stunning Location: Nestled by the Rangitikei River in a scenic valley, the Lodge offers breathtaking natural beauty, making it perfect for relaxation and bonding with family.
River Valley Lodge, while in some sense in the middle of nowhere, is, in fact, centrally located, being two hours (give or take) from Whanganui, Taupo, Napier/Hastings and Palmerston North, all of which have regional airports.
The Lodge is situated only 35 minutes drive off State Highway 1.
The Lodge can accommodate up to 50 people in various room configurations, from lovely riverside ensuite rooms to bunk-rooms with three sets of bunks each. Rooms for the adults and rooms for the kids.
Customisable Catering: The Lodge provides on-site catering with locally sourced ingredients, offering delicious meals that can be customised to meet dietary requirements and preferences.
The design of the Lodge features a large communal lounge dining area. Perfect for everybody to get together.
There are many options for what you can do during your stay. These options vary from Grade 5 whitewater rafting for the adventurous to the Awesome Scenic Rafting Adventure for those not so adventurous. This latter trip is ideal for families. In addition, there is horse trekking for people who can ride. Rounding out the adventures is the Laughing Moa. This 40 km cycling route over rural backroads features great views and is always popular. We carry a range of hire e-bikes that are very suitable for this.
There is a swimming hole just out in front of the Lodge, which is a magnet on warm days.
On cooler days, the wood-fired sauna, an infrared sauna and a hot tub in the Sauna and Spa area are great places to relax.
The Lodge grounds are a peaceful place. Surrounded by nature, the Lodge is the perfect place to unwind.
