This week is a particularly sad one for us.

As the quieter seasons approach we wave off about half of our summer staff over the next couple of days.

River Valley seems to attract all sorts; a handful of the seasonal staff from around New Zealand and the rest from all around the world.

Many of the outbound raft guides are off to work on rivers throughout the USA or Canada in their summer. Other staff are heading off to their respective home soil or off to warmer waters elsewhere.

They are a crazy bunch of personalities that bring so much joy and personality to our big River Valley family.

While it is a sad time saying goodbye to them all, it is also exciting to see what the autumn and winter seasons will bring. Cooler weather means a roaring lodge fire, hearty winter vegies and a more intimate customer experience.

We cannot wait.
