Taihape, New Zealand – Great location - show map

Season: 1st November to 15th April

A 3 day fully supported bike ride, over the Gentle Annie, from River Valley Lodge to De La Terre Winery.
Duration: 3 Days / 3 Nights

Departure Dates

We can run departures on custom dates for groups of 5-10 people. The first night at River Valley Lodge can be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday. Or, if you would like to book a departure outside these days and not include lunch at De La Terre, please inquire.

The Gentle Annie Cycle Journey

The Gentle Annie Cycle Journey takes you from River Valley Lodge on the banks of the Rangitikei River, east of Taihape, finishing at De La Terre winery, which is situated just a few kilometres out of Hastings (we then transport you back to River Valley). For the most part, the route travels along the Taihape Napier Road. This road traverses spectacular central North Island high country. You will ride through or past some of the biggest Sheep and Cattle Stations in New Zealand. These include Ngamatea, Otupae and Mangaohane Stations.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at River Valley Lodge before dinner (which is included). Spend the night in a deluxe ensuite room at River Valley.

Day 2: After breakfast you will be shuttled to Otupae Junction, then ride back to River Valley, stopping for lunch and a swim at the historic Springvale Suspension bridge along the way if you wish.  Spend another night in deluxe accommodation at River Valley.

Day 3: After breakfast you will be shuttled to Otupae Junction again, this time you will ride across the Gentle Annie to Kuripapango campsite. You will spend the night camping under the stars at Kuripapango.  Since the ride is fully supported our ride crew will bring all the camping gear, and cook you a delicious dinner and breakfast at the campsite.

Day 4: Ride from Kuripapango to De La Terre Winery. Your ride finishes with a gourmet lunch at the winery and then our support vehicle will shuttle you back to River Valley.

As accommodation is included at River Valley Lodge the night before you do the first day riding, this first night is considered Day 1. Lunch at De La Terre winery is included on the last day of the ride, and as they are not open from Monday to Thursday, this limits the days on which we can offer a departure, which includes this lunch. Day 1 (first night at River Valley Lodge) can be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday.  If you would like to book a departure outside these days and not include lunch at De La Terre, please inquire.

Group Size

We will run a trip for groups of 5 riders or more, up to a maximum of 10 riders.  If you have a smaller group please enquire for dates.
