Have you done a few rafting trips and experienced everything that short duration rafting can offer you?

After all, in New Zealand, day and part day rafting trips are the norm.

Seldom do we take the opportunity to explore beautiful rivers for more than a few hours

We believe a Rangitikei Headwaters Expedition can give you fresh insights on what it means to be on a New Zealand wilderness river.

How being in remote back country, surrounded by rugged beauty, the only sound being those of nature, and your sole focus being a 4 day river rafting journey, can touch a part of your very soul.

These four days are Time Out in the true sense of the words. Away from the office, and away from all those other things that seem to pressure you. Time Out for you.

So what can you expect on this trip?

Without going into huge amounts of detail, how about – a night in an ensuited guest room at River Valley Lodge both before and after the river trip – a 20 minute helicopter flight in to the start point high in the Kaimanawa Ranges in the central North Island of New Zealand.

Four days rafting on the river, camping each night – rapids up to Grade/Class 3 – good food – great scenery.

In addition to the food, scenery and company, and depending on river flow, you will have the choice of travelling in a raft or inflatable kayak.

Still not sure that this trip is for you?

Well, this trip may not be for you. You do need to have average fitness, you certainly do not need to be an athlete.

You do need to be able to appreciate the simple, yet incredibly complex, beauty of nature.

You do need to be someone who enjoys the challenge of working and communicating with others, be it around camp or on the river.

Your active participation on both water and land is expected. You do need to be someone who can sit around a camp fire in the evening and feel content.

What Happens When You Book?

When you book we will supply you with a – To Bring List – We encourage you to book online – see the link on this page.  For groups of 4 – 8 we can look at the possibility of arranging a departure especially just for you.
